Baby boomer born in Saskatoon. Went to school at St. Mary's, St. Goretti, Holy Cross High School, University of Saskatchewan where he attained his Bachelor of Commerce (marketing major).

Completed Chartered Financial Planner course in 1982. Canadian Securities Course in 1985. Passed Registered Financial Planner exam in 1988.   Became a Chartered Life Underwriter in 1999.

Founding president of Saskatchewan Chapter of Canadian Association of Financial Planners. Newsletter editor for 99 issues from 1984 to 1997. Webmaster of CAFP National website for 1997. Served as president of the Saskatoon Chapter of CAFP in 1997-98.

President of North Central Saskatchewan chapter of the Advocis (The Financial Advisors Association of Canada).

Not licensed to sell life insurance or securities.

Member of the Trust Institute (Personal Trusts) and Specialist of the Trust Institute (Taxation).

Vice-President of Membership of CBA Toastmasters Club (meetings held every Wed 7:00 pm Grosvenor Park United Church). Has his ATM-G (Advanced Toastmaster Gold) designation and is working on his 7th Competent Communicator manual.

Ran 5 marathons (1981-85). Now bikes and walks to stay in shape. Loves to watch English Premier League football matches on the telly.

Writes a personal finance column in the StarPhoenix every Monday (first column appeared in July 1987). . Always looking for a good idea or timely question.

Fan of country blues artists such as Blind Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis. Grew up listening to country music greats such as Jimmie Rodgers, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams.

Works as financial planner at Raymond James Ltd. (since February 2001 when he left Matrix Financial Corporation).

Married to Betty for 32 years. Has three daughters: Katie, Lisa, Maggie
